Your Complete Industrial and Commercial Contracting Solution

Buckeye Mechanical self-performs HVAC-R, process piping, fabrication, millwright, and civil construction.

One Contractor for All of Your Mechanical Service Needs

Most commercial mechanical contractors handle one trade and subcontract the rest, which means the moment something goes wrong, nobody owns it. Buckeye self-performs the full scope with our own union tradespeople: one accountable contractor, tighter scheduling, and the cross-trade coordination that complex industrial work demands.

Case Study: Delivering a $3.4M Gas Processing Expansion for Montauk Renewables

Montauk Renewables needed to expand gas processing capacity at the Apex 2 Environmental Landfill in Amsterdam, Ohio. The project required converting landfill gas into a usable energy source across a facility expansion that touched multiple mechanical disciplines. It’s the kind of project that shows what a full-scope commercial mechanical contractor can actually deliver when the scope, the deadline, and the stakes all line up.

The Problem

Montauk’s facility expansion came with a hard completion deadline and financial penalties attached to every day past it. They needed a contractor who could mobilize fast, coordinate across mechanical trades, and keep a $3.4M scope on schedule without sacrificing the quality their operation required.

Our Solution

We prioritized manpower and materials from day one, pulling from our union workforce to staff the project at the pace the timeline demanded. Buckeye coordinated the full mechanical scope under one contractor, eliminating the scheduling gaps and finger-pointing that come with splitting work across multiple subs.

The Results

Completed on time and on budget. The Apex 2 expansion is one of many projects that sets Buckeye Mechanical apart from the competition.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both. Most commercial mechanical contractors separate fabrication from installation by outsourcing one or the other, which creates a coordination gap between what gets built in the shop and what gets installed in the field. Our in-house fabrication shop builds pipe spools, structural steel, sheet metal, custom ductwork, and miscellaneous metals, and our field crews install them. That puts accountability for the full scope under one contract, from the shop floor to the jobsite.

Our PM contracts cover the full range of Buckeye’s mechanical capabilities: HVAC-R systems, boilers, process piping, millwright maintenance, and welding repair. Contract structure is flexible by site and schedule, with quarterly, monthly, and custom-interval options available. Every visit is documented with inspection findings, work performed, equipment condition notes, and recommendations. PM clients also receive priority response on emergency calls, which matters for facilities where unplanned downtime carries a real cost.

Yes. Buckeye’s welders hold UA21 and U5 union certifications and are qualified across multiple processes, including SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SAW. We perform code welding in refinery, gas processing, and midstream environments and can qualify to project-specific procedures as the scope requires. Certification documentation is available as part of any pre-qualification process.

Start with the platforms industrial facilities use to track contractor safety: ISNetworld and Vera Force. From there, verify specific certifications rather than general claims. At Buckeye, that means EPRI-certified riggers and signalmen, UA21 and U5 union welders, and an active OSHA-rooted safety program tracked through both platforms. It’s also worth asking whether the contractor’s crews are supervised directly or routed through a sub. Buckeye’s tradespeople work under our direct management on every job.

Yes. Planned turnarounds, down-days, and shutdowns represent a significant share of Buckeye’s workload in steel, oil and gas, and we provide process piping, welding, rigging, and millwright services for both. Roughly 40 to 50 percent of our work overall is time-sensitive in nature, so our crews are experienced in the compressed timelines and elevated safety requirements these projects demand.
